Course description

MCP & n8n: Workflow Automation and API Integration

3-Day Intensive Course for Process Designers, Automation Engineers & Digital Teams
3 Intense Days
7 Hours per Day (Split into two 3.5-hour sessions)

Learning Path Visual

From manual processes to scalable, modular automation:

Day 1: Foundations of Modular Control Processes (MCP)
Understand how Modular Control Processes (MCP) help define clean, adaptable workflows. Map out business processes using modular logic, reusable steps, and event-based triggers.

Day 2: Workflow Automation with n8n
Dive into n8n’s no-code/low-code automation environment. Learn how to build flows using built-in nodes for apps like Google Sheets, Discord, Airtable, HTTP, and custom webhooks.

Day 3: Integrating APIs, Error Handling & System Coordination
Master external API calls, authentication, advanced conditional logic, and error handling. Design reusable sub-workflows and system dashboards to monitor and manage automations at scale.

Course Overview

This hands-on course introduces a practical automation framework using Modular Control Processes (MCP) combined with n8n, the powerful open-source workflow platform. Ideal for professionals seeking to automate repetitive tasks, connect services, or build internal tools without writing full applications.

By the end of the course, you’ll build secure, maintainable, and transparent automations that align with your organization’s business logic and goals.

You’ll learn how to:

  • Define processes using MCP principles: modularity, observability, control

  • Build automations in n8n with trigger-response logic and branching

  • Connect and authenticate with third-party APIs

  • Use expressions, variables, error workflows, and webhook listeners

  • Manage and monitor complex automation systems

  • Package workflows for internal use, audits, or client delivery

What’s Inside Each Day

Day 1 — Foundations of Modular Control Processes (MCP)

  • What is MCP? Principles and value in workflow clarity

  • Use cases in business automation and IT systems

  • Process mapping: tasks, conditions, events, loops

  • Designing reusable logic blocks and modular flows

  • Workshop: Map and modularize a real internal process
Toolkit: MCP canvas template + flow diagramming sheet
Focus: Logic Structure • Reuse • Process Abstraction

Day 2 — Workflow Automation with n8n

  • Overview of n8n: triggers, actions, credentials, UI

  • Using built-in nodes: HTTP, Airtable, Notion, Google, Slack, etc.

  • Handling data: JSON, expressions, and input/output variables

  • Chaining steps, parallelism, and conditional branching

  • Workshop: Build 3 real automations from scratch
Toolkit: n8n workflow planner + node function cheatsheet
Focus: No-Code Logic • Node Design • Integration Flow

Day 3 — Integrating APIs, Error Handling & System Coordination

  • Calling external APIs (GET, POST, PUT) and handling responses

  • Authentication: API keys, OAuth2, and custom headers

  • Retry logic, failover flows, and alerts via Telegram/Slack/Email

  • Sub-workflows and reusable components

  • Workshop: Deploy a monitored, error-tolerant automation system
Toolkit: API call template + incident workflow map
Focus: Reliability • External Services • Scaling & Control

Course Goals

By the end of this course, you’ll be able to:

  • Use MCP to define scalable and transparent automation logic

  • Build real-world automations with n8n, from simple to complex

  • Securely interact with APIs and manage auth tokens

  • Handle errors, retries, and notifications like a pro

  • Package and document your workflows for handoff or reuse
